What You Can Expect

Sports Therapy Injury Management session 1 hour:

‘STIM’ is the primary session for any ache, pain or specific injury. At the initial consultation, Judith will take basic personal details, explain the Sports Therapy process and obtain a detailed history of the problem. Then she will carry out a full examination and assessment, where you will move the area of pain and surrounds into different positions. This will help Judith understand the problem, and its source better so that she can develop an effective treatment plan. It will all be explained in detail at the consultation. Please do not hesitate to ask any questions.

Judith’s priority is optimum care and management of each person’s ache, pain or injury. After the initial consultation, each session will last about an hour and the area will be re-assessed to note progression. Each hour session will involve discussion of the injury and hands on assessment and treatment. Please wear or bring a pair of shorts and for ladies, please wear a comfortable bra or sports bra.

Sports Massage:

Massage has been described as, ‘a mechanical manipulation of body tissues with rhythmical pressure and stroking for the purpose of promoting health and well-being’. Techniques are effleurage (stroking), petrissage (cleansing) and tapotement (stimulating) depending on the physiological effect required. Sports Massage can be used to prepare or recover from exercise, as treatment for an injury or simply for maintenance of the body from training or occupational stresses and strains.

The benefits of massage are:

  • Influx of healing substances
  • Removal of waste products
  • Increased tissue temperature and mobility
  • Decreased swelling

  • Induced muscle tone
  • Sedative/Invigorating effect (dependent on strokes used)
  • Relief of muscle stiffness, pain and physical tension
  • Maintenance of mobility and flexibility
  • Improved recovery and performance
  • Decreased risk of injury

    Hi,

I have a pain in my ankle which i think would be tendinitis or something to do with the ligaments or tendons.
How much would an initial assessment be?
